From idea to reality
AQUESSENCE started with a question: why do we filter the water we drink, but not the water we stand under every morning?
Australian mains water is treated to be safe. That's not in doubt — it's disinfected with chlorine by law, and for good reason. But safe and clean aren't quite the same thing. The chlorine that keeps the water safe on its journey is still in it when it reaches your skin and hair. And on older pipe runs, water can pick up rust and fine sediment along the way.
Most people filter their drinking water without thinking twice about it. Almost nobody filters the water they shower in — even though a shower puts far more water on your skin than you'll drink in a day.
That gap is where AQUESSENCE began. We're Bene and Bruno — two entrepreneurs with an appetite for solutions that make people's health and daily routines better. Water quality isn't a niche concern in this country; it's something that touches every household, every day, and mostly goes unexamined. We decided to build something that addresses it directly, at the point where it matters most.
What we make
AQUESSENCE makes filters that sit at the last point in the water's journey — the point closest to you. Our shower filter combines KDF-55, calcium sulfite, activated carbon and Vitamin C to reduce free chlorine, with stainless-steel mesh and micro-porous layers that capture rust and sediment.
It installs by hand in about two minutes, fits the standard fittings used in Australian bathrooms, and the cartridge lasts roughly four to six months.
What we won't say
This part matters to us more than it probably should.
Water filtration is a category full of big promises. It's easy to claim a filter removes heavy metals, or PFAS, or limescale — and plenty of brands do, without anything to back it up.
We've chosen not to. Our filters reduce free chlorine and capture rust and sediment. That's what the media inside them actually does, and that's what we say. We're not independently verified to remove PFAS, dissolved heavy metals, or water hardness, so we don't claim it.
We'd rather tell you exactly what you're buying than sell you something you'll be disappointed by.
Don't take our word for it
Water quality varies enormously across Australia — what comes out of a tap in Healesville is not what comes out of one in Perth. Before you buy anything from us, look up your own suburb.
